Funtastico artwork
I was delighted to be commissioned for a mural at Funtastico restaurant, Subiaco, Western Australia.
Instead of a mural, I created a piece on an MDF board and had it mounted.
I also made it double -sided with a different image on the reverse side so the owner could turn it around if they chose when they needed a bit of a refresher.

Casey grew up in
Perth and took an interest in drawing from an early age. This continued with
general art classes at school and was followed by an Advanced Diploma of Live
Production (Props and Scenery) majoring in Scenic Painting from the WA Academy
of Performing Arts. The time spent working in a theatre setting greatly
influenced Casey’s work and the drama created by sets and lighting is apparent
in her artwork. Casey has also spent time as a Scenic Artist for Perth theatres
such as His Majesty’s Theatre, and as an artist and props maker for Perth’s
Artrage Festival, TV commercials and film, and murals for private companies.
It
was also around this time that Casey took an interest in street art. During a
ten year period spent living and working in Sydney and Canberra, Casey
completed an Interior Architecture degree at Curtin University and the
University of Canberra.
Casey held her
first solo exhibition in Sydney in 2009, showing a series of figurative
charcoal drawings and mixed media paintings which were manipulated through the
use of shading in order to create a feeling of reflection and contemplation –a
common thread running through Casey’s figurative as well as abstract work. In
the same year, Casey won an art competition (painting category) run by a Sydney
magazine for her painting ‘Constance’, inspired by D.H. Lawrence’s ‘Lady
Chatterley’s Lover’. This followed with exhibitions and commissions in Darwin
and Perth. Casey is also passionate about placemaking having held a research
role for local Government in Darwin on how they can apply placemaking and
Universal Design principles to policy and planning.
Since moving back
to Perth after being away for thirteen years, Casey is currently creating in
the form of fashion photography and styling, graphic design and exhibiting in
public spaces, currently her favourite gallery space.
